“When you are a child and you don’t get any love, when there is no love, it feels like a hole in your stomach.” How do you fill that hole?
In Claire Dowie’s Adult Child/Dead Child the hole is filled with an imaginary friend. A friend who can be all the things you are not allowed to be. An end to being alone. A companion to help make sense of the adult world. Only when that friend becomes more tyrant than liberator, the hole has the potential to turn into a chasm. A chasm between what is real and what is imagined.
A diverse ensemble embody both a spoken and shared physical language. Intertwining text, movement and striking imagery – a show for the brain, the body and the heart.
