“The album title for us reflects the feelings that so many people have been experiencing over the last two unprecedented years of darkness.  We feel it is time to ‘turn the lights back on’ and shine some positivity and joyousness...”

CATS in SPACE return to the live circuit this Summer onwards, promoting their fifth studio album, the EPIC “KICKSTART THE SUN”! Upon release on July 29th it entered the NATIONAL ROCK & METAL ALBUM CHART at NUMBER ONE! It also made NUMBER 5 in the NATIONAL INDEPENDENT ROCK CHART, and NUMBER 11 in the NATIONAL ‘PHYSICAL SALES’ ALBUM CHART. Confirming the reviews and quotes are no hype. The band have served up a classic.

With the support of major radio airplay all over the UK including BBC RADIO 2, pre-orders alone for both the double vinyl LP & CD variants have zoomed past all other releases by the band making it their most successful album inside the first month of release. Plus for the first time HMV music has released an exclusive Grey vinyl edition of the LP, confirming the rise of CATS in SPACE is continuing to zoom upwards.

Kickstart the Sun, which took nine solid months to complete and was partly recorded at the legendary RAK Studios in London, has once more raised the bar that was already set super high by their previous chart hitting albums.
The familiar team of producer/guitarist and principal songwriter Greg Hart and engineer Ian Caple sees the new album clocking in at a ‘stratospheric sixty-three minutes’ and features some very special guests who help to confirm that the band are pushing their musical boundaries to the absolute maximum. Joining the CATS on the fifteen song opus is the legendary pedal steel player B.J. Cole (the man behind Tiny Dancer, Baker Street and No Regrets by the Walker Brothers amongst a star studded CV)  Australian virtuoso Ian Cooper dubbed the ‘One Man String Orchestra’, a real brass and horn section courtesy of Jack Birchwood, the ever present vocals of seventh cat Mick Wilson and Emily Lynne and Lara Smiles from the Australian Pink Floyd also joining in. Also featured is ‘The Duchess’ Julie Maguire on vocals, who gets to sing an incredible duet with CAT frontman and co-writer Damien Edwards. The familiar CAT line-up of Steevi Bacon on drums/co-writer, Dean Howard on guitars, Jeff Brown on bass/vocals and the ‘Mad Hatter’ himself Andy Stewart on keyboards, alongside Damien and Greg have all delivered ‘performances of giants’ according to engineer Ian Caple.

The first single ‘POKE THE WITCH’ scored over 100,00 social media plays in just a few weeks courtesy of a brilliant and innovative video made by James Heron. The single made CLASSIC ROCK SINGLE OF THE WEEK beating off heady competition from top class bands. A second single and video ‘TEENAGE MILLIONAIRES’ followed in early June and is clocking up similar stats as we speak.

“We are gobsmacked by the early reviews coming in, especially so many brandishing the word ‘masterpiece’, which really is the highest accolade we can hope for! The buzz around the whole campaign is quite amazing... Our WebStore pre-orders are flying in and our ‘upturn’ in social media followers has been massive. 2022 certainly seems to be the year when people really are reaching out for great NEW rock music again. It’s all very encouraging- and we are delighted with the response so far.” GH

“SO, BE SURE TO CATCH THE BAND ON THIS AMAZING TOUR WHICH WILL GO RIGHT THROUGH INTO 2023 - IT’S A WORLDWIDE MISSION…”
